Letters of Civil War soldier John B. Gallison to his family in Lawrence, Mass. Gallison served in Company C of the 40th Massachusetts Volunteers from 1862-1864. A diary kept during 1864 includes information about Gallison's capture at Drury's Bluff, Va., and his subsequent imprisonment at Libby Prison in Virginia from May-Dec. 1864. Included in the collection are receipts from 1832-1849 relating to transactions involving Henry G. Gallison of Marblehead, Mass.
